Fighting a blighted bear is a unique experience. Here's what you need to know.
Unlike most combat, the goal of fighting a blighted bear is not to inflict damage, but to lead the bear into a trap. The bear runs at a certain speed. This does not occur in real-time, because like all combat in Broodwood, it is turn-based. The bear run movement tics on its turn. So, don't panic, you can take your time and choose your strategy!
The bear is actually five rooms: rear, back, left shoulder, right shoulder, and head. Within each room is blighted fur that will attack you. Don't bother trying to harm the blighted fur - it's indestructible.
Here's a list of useful actions you can take:
sting: sting the bear in the left shoulder to turn it right and in the right shoulder to turn it left. sting the bear's rear to speed it up and the bear's head to stop it entirely.
slashdash <direction> (alias: sdash <direction>): Use slashdash to escape the blighted fur and move into another room.
dodge: When there's no other action you'd rather take, dodging will reduce the chance that the blight hits you. This will help you survive as it takes several rounds before the bear reaches the trap.
