Wildwood

A mysterious forest looms over you in a palette of psychedelic gloom.
Its foliage rustles in the night breeze, thick with sparkling blue spores.
The perfumed aroma beckons you deeper and deeper until it's too late.
There's no going back now.

Your dreams await.

What is Wildwood?

Wildwoood is a multiplayer text-based roleplaying game set in an isolated beach town surrounded by a dark and mysterious forest full of wild and wicked dreams. Each player plays a character just arriving, joining the community in the fight against the Nightmare of Nothingness, threatning to devour everything.

Anyone can enter Wildwood. No one can leave.

Within the forest, your dreams become a warped reality, twisted by the Nightmare. Foray with your companions to face their fears and your own. Unshroud the mysteries of your mind.

The only way to survive Wildwood is to tell your story.

Gameplay Overview

Roleplay: Text-based RP with simple TTRPG-like game mechanics to help with storytelling.

Setting: There are two main settings: the town and the forest of dreams. Within the town, you may engage socially, have a job, interact with game-wide plots. Within the forest of dreams, you join or lead forays to stave off the Nightmare of Nothingness from consuming the town. Players are the storytellers within these forest forays and have flexibilty in how to design them.

Storytellers: Everyone can be a storyteller in Wildwood by building your own mini-plots in the forest of dreams using a simple toolset. These plots can potentially link with overarching game plots led by staff storytellers.

System: Within forest forays, TTRPG-like game mechanics are used. These mechanics are heavily inspired by Monster of the Week, a Powered by the Apocolpyse TTRPG.

Alts: You may have only one main character at any given time but are able to assume multiple personas & 'classes' within the forest of dreams.

Growth: Your character earns XP through joining forays into the forest. There's a small daily cap, so grinding is not possible.

Building: Every character can create 'dream' rooms and 'dream' NPCs, and also 'real' items, clothing, and food. There are daily and XP based limits to the amount you can create.

Grid: All roleplay happens on a grid like in a MUD. There's a world to explore and create. There are no scenes like in a MUSH, but in many ways, forest forays are isolated from the rest of the world and function much like a MUSH scene.

Death and Retirement are optional: Your character can be injured, but they won't die unless you request this from staff. Likewise, you can keep your character for as long as the game is running.
